What are dermal fillers?

Commonly refered to as Restylane, dermal fillers are injections of hyaluronic acid gel that help restore your skin’s volume, creating softness and revitalizing your appearance.

What are dermal fillers used for?

Hyaluronic acid, abundant in youthful skin, changes in distribution and function as we age and it's these changes that produce the characteristic signs of aging. Restylane is a hyaluronic acid gel that closely resembles the hyaluronic acid occuring naturally in the body, which means it reduces the risk of an inflammatory reaction or other side effects. Dermal fillers help replenish your skin's supply of hyaluronic acid, helping revitalize and 'plump up' your skin, instantly reducing the appearance of lines and giving your skin a softer look.

Will I be suitable for the injections?

Your doctor will assess your suitability for dermal filler injections during a free initial consultation. The consultation will involve suitable medical testing and an examination will also be taken. Restylane is a hyaluronic acid gel.

When should I not have dermal filler injections?

Do not have dermal filler injections if you:

  • have an infection where the treatment will be injected
  • are allergic to any of the ingredients
  • are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant
  • have a permanent implant placed in a treatment area

As with any medical treatment it is important to tell your doctor if you are taking any other medication or suffer with allergic reactions of any kind.
